Val d’Arno di Sopra Galatrona 2016
This is full of enticing blackberry, blueberry and plum flavors, with a spine of acidity, iron accents and beefy tannins. Long and well-proportioned, this needs time to integrate. Tobacco and spice hints detail the finish. Drink now through 2033.
The property has 272Ha in the Valdarno di Sopra area, bordering Chianti, delimited in 1716 by the Grand Duke of Tuscany for the quality of its wine and olive oil. Petrolo was part of the medieval fiefdom of Galatrona, of which the tower (Torrione) still remains. The winery was bought by the Bazzocchi family in the 40s and aims to pursue only wines of the highest quality.
