Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Paganelli Riserva 2015
This red is subtle and laced with cherry, plum and floral notes, backed by vibrant acidity. Earth and tobacco accents add depth. It took a few moments of aeration to shake off the cobwebs, and this isn’t an expressive style, but it has its appeal. Will need time to absorb the substantial tannins. Drink now through 2048. 3,750 cases made, 750 cases imported.
The Il Poggione Estate, founded in 1890 and owned by the fifth generation of the Franceschi family, is one of the founding families of the Brunello appellation and one of the largest estates in Montalcino. It covers about 600 hectares of which 140 are planted with vineyards, and is dedicated to sustainability in the farming practices and tradition in the production stages of Brunello.
